The Day 7 Prompt of the Thankfulness and Gratitude Journey Challenge is ‘Organization’
Here is the grid so you can look ahead and see what is coming up.
Is there an organization that has been instrumental in some form or fashion in your life? One that you are thankful for? One that without being a part of it or it’s exsistence, your life just wouldn’t be the same? There are several in my life, especially if I break my life down into different segments or time frames. For me right now, that organization is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I am especially thankful to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, San Diego Chapter.
Our son Riley has Cystic Fibrosis and the CFF has been instrumental in being a wealth of knowledge and support to us. Just as importantly they fight everyday to find a cure. You see Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the number one genetic killer of children and young adults in America. The CF mutation attacks the lungs and digestive system, causing a thick and sticky mucus to cover the internal organs. The mucus causes organ deterioration and harbors harmful bacteria that can lead to life-threatening infections.
When the CF Foundation was started in 1955, a child with CF was not expected to live to attend elementary school. Today dramatic advances in CF research and treatment have extended the median age of survival for people with CF to 47 years of age. Currently there is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis; but with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and all their hard work doing fundraisers and funding research and treatment development and support to CF’ers and their families…hopefully one day CF will stand for Cure Found! You can read more about the fundraisers we participate in with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation here on our RSVP for a CF Cure page. I actually just launched the team page for our RSVP for a CF Cure 2018 Great Strides Walk San Diego Team, feel free to click on the link and check out our story and information about the walk and foundation.
