One of the really fun things about being a mom is shopping for all the fun stuff our kiddos need and want right?! It can also be stressful because lets face it….they grow out of everything WAY to fast!! However if you are lucky enough to have a Just Between Friends Sale near you can shout Hip Hip Hooray right now. Why, you ask? Because you can both shop these wonderful sales for FANTASTIC buys you won’t believe and sell the stuff your kiddos have grown out of to get money to buy the new stuff! It is a win for everyone and a double win for the the smart mom who is both a buyer and a seller at these events!
We adopted Riley and that process was not inexpensive so I was looking for ways to save money as a new mom. When I found the Just Between Friends Sale right after we brought Riley home it was a huge blessing from God! We were able to get a ton of baby gear that we needed at super reduced prices and most of it was new or like new! I got a swing/bouncer seat that he loved and lived in for the next five months for $10 and a baby carrier my husband used to carry Riley around in for $8. Plus we found a ton of clothes for the next stage/age that he would be moving into for very little money and I am talking about designer stuff that was super cute and most of it was either brand new (some with tags still on it) or I couldn’t tell if it had been worn before or not…it looked new to me and believe me I was being really picky about what my little guy was going to wear!
The next time the sale happened was about 6 months later…you see they have them 2 times a year in our area once in the spring and once in the fall. So in the Spring I became a seller and sold all the stuff Riley had outgrown! I made enough to pay for all the new stuff I bought for him for the next stage he was growing into….so exciting! I went a little crazy at this sale buying books and toys at fantastic prices, but he loved them all and is still using the books!
The third time I participated I was a seller, a buyer and a volunteer. The family that runs the San Diego sales are really great and is fun to work with to boot! And Oh boy did we have fun! When you volunteer to help out you earn an extra amount on what you sell and you get to get into the sale early. If you are thinking about selling or buying you should for sure think about volunteering because you get in the sale EARLY….that means…you get FIRST DIBS on all the best stuff!!! Oops, did I just say that? I just let my secret out! Well, you won’t tell anyone will you?
So at my last sale I sold more than I bought (even though I bought a BUNCH of stuff) but I ended up actually making money! How much fun is that! I can’t wait to see what happens this time around…the next sale is coming up Sept. 3-5, 2015 and I am selling a bunch of the stuff Riley outgrew…heck some of it he never even wore…the little bugger hit a growth spurt and skipped a whole 2 sizes of shoes! Anyway, you can get all the details about the sale and any information you need to sign up to sell and/or volunteer here at the San Diego Just Between Friends Sale website. I hope to see you at the sale! Let me know your mom money saving tips in the comments section. I am always looking for new ways to save.
